Description: This course will provide students with an overview of epidemiology, its application to public health and current issues of interest in epidemiology and public health.

Objective This course will begin with an overview of the history of public health, and underlying principles of epidemiology; the need for evidence-based medicine and a look at some current controversies; the rest of the course will be looking at examples of epidemiology and public health initiatives in a broad spectrum world-wide.
Preparations Texts and materials will be linked or furnished in class. Students are expected to have a basic understanding of algebra and an ability to interpret and discuss data presented in graphs and tables.
