Description: This course will provide students with an overview of epidemiology, its application to public health and current issues of interest in epidemiology and public health.
Midterm - 30%
|Objective||This course will begin with an overview of the history of public health, and underlying principles of epidemiology; the need for evidence-based medicine and a look at some current controversies; the rest of the course will be looking at examples of epidemiology and public health initiatives in a broad spectrum world-wide.|
|Preparations||Texts and materials will be linked or furnished in class. Students are expected to have a basic understanding of algebra and an ability to interpret and discuss data presented in graphs and tables.|
